Mr. Moser's Neighborhood
Welcome to Mr. Moser’s Neighborhood is an entertainment and theater history of Cleveland during the vaudeville era (roughly 1885-1930). Our centerpiece is Otto Moser’s pub on East 4th Street, where more than 650 (usually signed and dated) photos of visiting vaudevillians lined the walls and filled the display cases. The presentation (along with the accompanying book: Mr. Moser’s Neighborhood: the Intersection of Cleveland and Vaudeville, introduces scores of those individuals; explains the evolution and workings of vaudeville; provides a short history of the 60+ live theaters that once thrived in downtown Cleveland; and contains video clips of vaudeville performances from 100 or more years ago.
